rains save telangana KCR, Power Cut

The rain gods seem to be kind with the Power crisis ridden Telangana state. Last month there are good rains in the state and that helped in the production of hydel power which ensured the power woes are gone at least for few days. And now this month again, the rains have come to the rescue of the state. The rains in the state over the last few days due to the effect of Hudhud Cyclone resulted in the production of 1200 MW power for the second successive day.

All the six units of the Srisailam left bank power house produced about 800 MW of power, while Nagarjunasagar which is currently operating at a lower capacity to produce about 400 MW. This will come as a huge respite to the state for at least few days. The state government is planning to divert this power to agricultural use as the crop season is at a crucial stage. Officials says the demand from domestic usage has decreased slightly due to cold weather in some parts. However they will not take a decision on reducing power cuts or power holidays till some days.
