TDP Supremo Chandrababu Naidu has met DMK President MK Stalin the other day in Chennai. Stalin has agreed to work together as a team to dethrone the fascist government of Narendra Modi. This is the second such meeting of Naidu with the heads of Regional Parties in the last week after meeting HD Deve Gowda in Bengaluru.
Congress General Secretary Ashok Gehlot will be meeting Chandrababu Naidu later today in Amaravati. Naidu already held meetings with Arvind Kejriwal, Sharad Pawar, and Mayawati on the same issue. More such meetings are lined up for Naidu in the few weeks. He is also planning to host a Dinner for National Leaders later this month in Amaravati.
Naidu who previously played a crucial role in National Politics was confined to the State Politics for the last few years. Immediately after NDA assuming power in 2014, there were speculations that Naidu will be made the Convenor of the Alliance. But in a bid to tone down Naidu in Andhra Pradesh, Modi and Amit Shah started downsizing Naidu.
Rahul Gandhi is exactly making use of that capability in Chandrababu. BJP has come to Power in 2014 on its own and it is unlikely to happen in 2019 and the party may have to rely on its allies for having a second term. The party did not realize that and let go Naidu. They will regret doing that if the United Opposition trounces Naidu in the coming elections.
