Nehruvian- Gandhi Family Scion Rahul Gandhi finally puts an end to the two-year long speculations about his impending elevation and has today filed his nomination papers for the post of Congress president at the party headquarters on Akbar Road.
Today is the last day for filing nominations and the last chance for anyone in the party to challenge Rahul to an election for the post. That is not expected to happen and so he is expected to be announced the Chief of the Congress Party by this evening.
Sonia Gandhi has been the party’s longest-serving president, having led the party for 19 years since 1998. Gujarat Election Result later this month will be the first result post his elevation and it has to be seen if Rahul will be able to start off with a success.
