Raghu Rama Krishna Raju Supreme CourtThe hearing on a petition filed by MP Raghu Rama Krishna Raju’s son Bharat in the Supreme Court has been adjourned. Bharat has approached the Supreme Court seeking a CBI inquiry into allegations that his father was beaten in CID custody.

The apex court issued notices to the respondents to reply within 6 weeks. Only the Central Government and the CBI have joined the case as respondents. The AP government, Jagan‌, and AP CID were removed from the list of respondents.

Senior Lawyer Dushyanth Dave representing Andhra Pradesh Government objected to the removal of the AP government from the list of Governments but the bench ignored his objections. The next hearing was adjourned for 6 weeks.

This removal will mean that the Supreme Court will listen to the Central Government and the CBI based on the already available evidence as per the report of the Army Hospital in Secunderabad. “If the trial happens on the basis of that report, Andhra Pradesh Government and the officials involved – CID officers who are responsible for the safety of the MP in the custody to the medical board that has given an incorrect report in Guntur can be in trouble.
