Puthalapattu constituency in TDP is proving to be a tough nut to crack for the party. The SC reserved constituency also has a significant Reddy population.
After delimitation, Puthalapattu became an SC-reserved constituency. TDP gave a ticket to Lalitha Kumari in that election but Congress won by a slender margin.
Later in 2014, YSR Congress once again won on the same candidate with a slight margin. Since it had less than 1000 votes in both elections, TDP gave Lalitha Kumari the third chance in 2019 expecting the sympathy factor to work.
But this time, she lost with a whopping 29K votes margin. Lalitha Kumar quit TDP after the election but did not join any other party.
Since there is no in charge, that impact is felt in the local elections as well. The party struggled to field candidates.
Despite the local cadre demanding to appoint one, the high command is still undecided.
The cadre is fearing that the delay can cost the fourth election.
