Promotion for Venkaiah Naidu AP Loses Big Brother - Vice-Presidential ElectionsBJP led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has named Union Minister for Urban Poverty Alleviation and Information and Broadcasting, Venkaiah Naidu as its nominee for Vice-Presidential elections 2017. This is a proud moment for Telugu people.

However, this promotion for Venkaiah will mean that South India will be losing its one and only Big Brother. Venkaiah always stood for the cause of South India. This is a huge loss for AP in Particular as Venkaiah always shouldered the responsibility of speaking to other ministers over the state priorities.

Venkaiah Naidu Naidu will take on Gopalkrishna Gandhi, the Congress’ pick for the post. The election to the post of Vice-President will be held on August 5. NDA Candidate is likely to win hands down in this election. The Vice-President of India is the second-highest constitutional office in India, after the President.

The current Vice-President is Mohammad Hamid Ansari, since 11 August 2007, and re-elected on 7 August 2012. Venkaiah will play a crucial role in Rajya Sabha if elected since the ruling NDA has no majority in the Upper House of the Parliament.
