Proddaturu in Kadapa Lok Sabha segment is the Reddy Bastion. TDP managed to win the seat for the last time in 2009. In two consecutive elections later, YSR Congress won the seat comfortably.
Rachamallu Siva Prasad Reddy won both times and with a record 45K votes majority in the 2019 election. There is substantial anti-incumbency against Rachamallu in the people as well as the cadre.
MLC Ramesh Yadav has become a thorn in the flesh of MLA Rachamallu Siva Prasad Reddy. Rachamallu’s group says it is the MLA who made Ramesh Yadav an MLC.
Rachamallu made personal remarks on Ramesh Yadav in an interview and the MLC’s brother’s house was attacked allegedly by MLA’s group.
The MLC did not comment on Rachamallu but Yadav community heads gave a counter to the MLA.
Ramesh Yadav’s group complained about Rachamallu to the Chief Minister in a review meeting as well. Sajjala Rama Krishna Reddy spoke to both groups twice but nothing changed.
This group politics is taking caste color and may dent the chances of the YSR Congress in the upcoming elections, the cadre is worried.
If Rachamallu gets the ticket, Yadavs may not cooperate. And if Ramesh Yadav gets lucky, the Reddy community will not support him.
