A man from California identified as Anurag Chandra has been found guilty of murdering three teenagers for playing a ding-dong prank at his house in 2020. A resident of Riverside County, Anurag Chandra was guilty of three counts of attempted murder and three counts of first-degree murder.
The incident happened when a group of teenage boys rang Chandra’s doorbell on a dare. Chandra later said that one of the boys flashed his buttocks before running away. On that particular day, Chandra drank 12 beers and was “extremely, extremely mad” at the prank. He further said that he was more worried for the safety of his family.
Chandra then followed the boys and rammed into their Toyota Prius off the road which ended up crashing into a tree in Temescal Valley. A scared Chandra then fled from the place. However, Chandra maintained that his intention was not to crash into the boys’ car. He further said that he did not think anyone was injured due to his act. But he did admit that he was driving at up to 99 miles per hour speed before the fatal crash.
The city of Corona residents Daniel Hawkins, Drake Ruiz, and Riverside resident Jacob Ivascu were among those who died on the day. The driver, an 18-year-old survived along with two 13-year-olds in the car.
