HYD-metro-rail-no-powerIn what could be termed as a shocking development, Power supply to Uppal Depot of Hyderabad Metro Project has been stopped. There is a dedicated substation of 270/132 KV for Power supply to Metro rail in Bandlaguda for the Uppal Depot and the metro project requires 30 MVA of power for its activities. Since last few days, the power supply is just restricted to 2-3 MVA capacity hindering the trial run of Metro rail in Nagole – Mettuguda route.

The concessionaire already conducted few trial runs in this route. Now, Research Design and Standards Organization (RDSO) officials have come to Hyderabad to inspect the trial run and their certification is needed for the project to go on track as planned for the coming Ugadi. RDSO officials will now wait for the power supply to resume till Sunday and then they go back to Lucknow. If the trial run do not happen, the Nagole-Mettuguda route will not become operational for Ugadi 2015 as planned.

It is said that L&T representatives are trying to get the appointment of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandra Sekhar Rao for the last one week but they are unable to meet him as his personal staff says he is busy with the ongoing Budget session of the state. It is known that the project is in bad air since TRS government came to power in the new state. At one stage, L&T threatened to withdraw from the project.
