The Third Integrated Ratings for Power Distribution Utilities released by the ministry of power recently rated the discoms in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana very moderately which may effect them while they seek loans from banks and financial institutions for taking up various schemes.
The Southern Power Distribution Company Limited of Telangana (SPDCL), Southern Power Distribution Company of Andhra Pradesh and Eastern Power Distribution Company of AP have been ranked B+ (moderate operational and financial performance capability). While the Northern Power Distribution Company of Telangana was ranked below average on its operational and financial performance.
These ratings are considered very much by the bidders who come forward to participate in various projects that the utilities plan to launch. Both the state government should immediately take appropriate steps to further strengthen the discoms.
