Section 8 is already in force - High CourtOne more Public Interest Litigation was filed in Hyderabad High court this time by the Telangana group challenging the constitutionality and legality of Section 8 of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act, 2014. The complainant alleged that the section is in violation of Articles 14, 163 and 246 (3) of the Constitution of India.

The Petitioners S Padmanabha Rao and three others, who are residents of the city say that there is no need to impose Section 8 on the city which is known for maintaining cordial and amicable relationship with people of all the states over the last 60 years. They say people of AP are absolutely safe in the common capital.

They also allege that AP government’s demands to invoke the Section 8 is only to defend itself from the Cash for Vote scam. The complainants request the court to strike down the section 8 which infringes the rights and duties of the democratically elected government in Telangana.
