The election commission of India (ECI) had declared that the upcoming by-elections in Warangal will see the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) also having the photographs of the candidates. Until now the EVMs carried only the names of the candidates and the corresponding symbols.
Its a old age tactics that parties some times fielded candidates with the same name of the rival parties and choose similar symbols to their parties. That will confuse the voters and especially old age voters confuse between the duplicates and the votes get divided.
This photographs move will eliminate the menace some extent. Warangal by-election will go for polling on 21st of this month and the results will be out on 24th. All the parties have intensified their campaigning.
