Hindu Dharmacharya, Swami Kamalanand Bharathi said that the stampede is a mishap and it should not be directed at Chandrababu for political gains.

He assured that people who lost their lives in the stampede will go to heaven. Kanchi Kamakoti Peetadhipathi, Jayendra Saraswathi also appreciated the government’s arrangements at all the ghats and asked people only to treat yesterday’s incident as a mishap.

Chandrababu Naidu had stationed himself in Rajahmundry and is personally supervising the arrangements. Till midnight, Naidu was seen at the ghats asking pilgrims about the arrangements. At one point of time, he apologized to the people if the mishap happened due to him and he burst in to tears when people extend their support to him and assured that he is not related to the mishap in anyways.
