TDP General Secretary Nara Lokesh and Janasena President Pawan Kalyan have lost in the last elections. Pawan Kalyan lost from both his seats (Bhimavaram and Gajuwaka) while Lokesh contested and lost in a single seat (Mangalagiri).
It is usual for new entrant leaders to search for a different seat when they lose from one place. Chiranjeevi lost from Palakollu and so, Pawan Kalyan did not contest from there. After elections, Pawan Kalyan stayed away from both his constituencies indicating a shift.
On the other hand, Lokesh has announced that he would contest from Mangalagiri itself in 2024 and would gift the victory in the constituency to Chandrababu. There have been many rumors that Lokesh would choose a Kamma dominated seat or Chandrababu’s Kuppam to be on the safe side.
Opponents peddle these rumors to weaken the public perception of a leader. If the leader chose to change the seat, it becomes true. Lokesh has realized that and has checkmated that propaganda by sticking to Mangalagiri. And it is now Pawan Kalyan to wake up.
The Janasenani should spell out the constituency from where he contests in 2024. Preferably, he should choose either or both from Bhimavaram and Gajuwaka and search where he lost. Choosing different constituencies and delay in announcing would be costly.
Last minute announcements will not work as evident by what happened to Lokesh and Pawan Kalyan in 2019 elections. Lokesh has decided not to commit the mistake. Its time, Pawan Kalyan should follow.
