Janasena President Pawan Kalyan surprised everyone by allying with the same BJP whom he criticized before the elections for going back on Special Status promise. Going by the popularity, Janasena should be the dominant partner of the alliance and should be dictating terms.

But BJP is calling shots in the alliance. BJP seems to be targeting Telugu Desam Party and in the process has decided not to do anything which benefits the main opposition party. “It has stopped supporting Amaravati and is being very meek in criticising the Government as anti-Government vote will naturally go to TDP,” analysts say.

“Pawan Kalyan is doing everything similar to BJP except that he is not being too vocal in criticising TDP like BJP leaders. He stopped tweeting or taking about the ruling party in the media to keep the criticism low. Instead the party is just releasing Press Notes on Government failures which will not get too much of traction,” the analysts add.

It has to be seen if this strategy will work for the alliance in future. In the recent elections, both the parties together failed even to touch the double digit vote share. As things stand today, their position did not improve post the elections and some doubt, if that actually deteriorated.
