Political parties in Andhra Pradesh face a strange problem now. As the state is going to be bifurcated on June 2nd, the President’s rule is set to continue till then and only after June 2nd, governments will be formed in both the regions. As a result there is a gap of 20 days and there is a danger of horse-trading of MLAs. Hectic horse-trading is likely to happen from May 12 to June 2 as the rival parties will try to poach on the other parties.

Sending the candidates to undisclosed holiday destinations, keeping them in hotels and party headquarters in Hyderabad are the usual options employed by parties but as the gap of 20 days is big, all these options become difficult to employ. As the results of Municipalities and MPTC/ZPTC elections will be out by May 12th/13th, parties should also take care of the ZPTC and MPTC members and corporators so as to bag the crucial posts like ZPTC chairman, MPTC president and mayor.
