NT Ramarao’s son-in-law, Daggubati Venkateswara Rao contested on a YSRCP ticket in Parchur in 2019 and lost by a slender margin.
His son, Hitesh was supposed to contest from there but had to back off at the last minute due to citizenship issues.
After the election, Daggubatis became inactive in the party after they allegedly suffered humiliation and neglect by Jagan.
Jagan has admitted Raghunatham Babu who worked against Venkateswara Rao into the party without even informing the latter and that has hurt him.
YSR Congress is struggling to appoint an in-charge for the constituency since then.
A few days ago, Jagan had decided to make Gade Venkat Reddy’s son, Madhusudhan Reddy as in-charge of this constituency. But even before it is announced, there is a change in the decision.
Former MLA Amanchi Krishna Mohan met Jagan on Monday. Buzz is that Jagan asked him to take responsibility of Parchur. The formal announcement may happen in a few days.
Karanam Balaram defeated Amanchi in Chirala in 2019 and later shifted to YSRCP. It looks like Jagan may give Chirala to Karanam and shift Amanchi to Parchur.
Amanchi has a stronghold on Chirala. He even won in the constituency as an Independent in 2014.
Social equations will be grossly against Amanchi in Parchur. So, this decision of Jagan may prove to be counterproductive for YSR Congress.
