Paneer-selvam

Jayalalithaa’s most loyal follower O Paneerselvam will be the next Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Jayalalithaa who is in a prison of Bangalore held series of talks with her ministers this morning and sent her decision over the next CM in a sealed cover. The cover was opened in the meeting of AIADMK MLAs in chennai after all of them agreed to abide by the decision of Jaya. In the cover, it is mentioned that O Paneerselvam, the Finance Minister of the state will be leading the state. All the MLAs will be meeting the governor now and recommend him to invite Paneerselvam to swear in as the Chief Minister.

Earlier in 2001, Jayalalithaa could not contest the Assembly elections due to conviction in a case but AIADMK won the election and Jaya was elected by the MLAs to the be the Chief Minister. However the Supreme Court ordered her to step down. It was then Paneerselvam is appointed as the Chief Minister in her place and he gave her no trouble obeying all her orders. Two years later Jaya got a stay on the court’s judgement and contest in a bielection to become MLA and then Paneerselvam gave her way back to the CM throne. That loyality once again got Paneerselvam the coveted post
