Chandrababu Naidu - TDPGoing by the results of the Andhra Pradesh Panchayat Elections First Phase, Telugu Desam Party has put up an unexpected show. When we do not consider the unanimous places where the Ruling Party has an undue advantage, TDP has given stiff competition to the ruling party.

The party performed very well in districts like Srikakulam, Vishakapatnam, East Godavari, West Godavari, Guntur, and Prakasam districts. The Ruling Party, however, still maintained its hold in Rayalaseema and Krishna districts. In Nellore, Kadapa, Chittoor, it has managed about double what TDP got.

The biggest positives for TDP will be its performance in Uttarandhra and Godavari districts which indicates the BCs – its traditional vote bank is back to the Cycle party. Prakasam district has come as a surprise. The result of Vishakapatnam even with the Executive Capital effect will induce so much confidence.

But then, it would still worry about Rayalaseema. Krishna district result is also a cause of worry. These results will encourage Telugu Desam Party supporters to go further hard in the rest of the three phases. If this is the case with Rural areas where welfare schemes will play a key role, the party can manage better results in Municipal elections.
