AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 Vaccine developed by the Researchers at Oxford University is the advanced stage among all the vaccines in development. The third phase trial is already paused once after a volunteer complained of unexplained illness.
The trial resumed after three days of pause. And now, Brazilian health authority Anvisa revealed that a volunteer in the clinical trial had died from Covid-19 complications. AstraZeneca confirmed that the trial would continue.
A person familiar with the matter has said that the volunteer, who died during the clinical trials of the AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine, had not received the vaccine shot but took a placebo shot as a part of the trial.
Oxford University confirmed that “there have been no concerns about the safety of the clinical trial. AstraZeneca declined to comment immediately and the Pharma major’s shares fell by 1.8% after that. Pune-based Serum Institute of India has partnered for this vaccine and the trials are happening in India as well.
