East Godavari district G. Medapadu Sarpanch Patani Devi is a BC woman and got elected with the support of the YSR Congress.
However, she now alleges that she was being harassed by the village leaders of the same party.
She said she would commit suicide if the problems are not resolved.
“We are telling our problems to Jagananna,” she is seen telling in a video that went viral on social media.
“Without giving the minimum recognition as a female Sarpanch, the YSRCP leader of the village, Morampudi Sriranganayaka, is harassing me. He is pressurizing me to divert Panchayat General funds against the rules,” the Sarpanch said.
“Since I refused, he got a false complaint on me alleging that I asked for a bribe for signing,” she adds.
Devi and her husband were allegedly assaulted on Friday while attending an MPDO hearing. She said she had lodged a complaint at the police station.
“While Jagan says he will give the opportunity to women, the local leaders do not allow them to work,” Devi said.
