The person who made the phrase ‘Telugu’s self respect’ popular and earned dignity to all the Telugu people across the globe is undoubtedly Nandamuri Taraka Ramarao. Before him Telugus were generalised as ‘Madrasis’ and there had been no special recognition for Telugu people’s individuality.
His iconic personality and the charishma he earned as both a film star and politician has created so much impact that, first time people from other parts of the country and globe started recognising Telugus seperately. To name one of the Google fonts after NTR’s name is an honour not only to him but for all the Telugu speaking people all over the world.
Latest Silicon Andhra (SIL Open Font License 1.1) has released 6 six new fonts which have been added to the Google Fonts Dictionary and now the count of Telugu fonts reached 17 alongwith NTR’s font. Among them one of the font is named after former Health Minister Mandali Venkata Krishna Rao who happens to be the father of AP Deputy Speaker Mandali Buddha Prasad. These fonts can be used free of cost.
