Opposition Vertically Split, Cross Voting in President ElectionThe Voting for the Presidential Elections is currently on in the Parliament and the State Assemblies. It is more or less confirmed that NDA Candidate, Ram Nath Kovind will easily bag the Position. On the other side, there is a big divide in the Opposition.

Sources say that at least half-a-dozen TMC MLAs of West Bengal set to cross vote in the presidential polls. The NCP also hints at backing NDA’s President pick Ram Nath Kovind. Shiv Sena hits out at Congress, criticizes Gopalkrishna Gandhi as the choice for Vice President.

The Party questions the rationale behind choosing Gandhi who opposed the hanging of 93 Mumbai Blast plotter Yakub Memon. Shiv Sena is backing NDA in Presidential Election but always has the previous history of backing different parties for President and Vice-President Elections.

There is a vertical split in Samajwadi as well. Samajwadi Party led by Mulayam Singh is supporting NDA’s Candidate while Akhilesh Yadav’s faction is supporting Meira Kumar. All the ballot boxes will be brought to Delhi after the election and the counting will happen on 20th of this month. Big News coming in is Congress has been left out of a parallel Opposition meeting in Parliament. The NCP, the DMK, the JD(U) and the SP leaders are huddled up in a meeting.
