Both the Chief Ministers of the Telugu States are elevated to power in the 2014 elections amid huge aspirations. Chandrababu Naidu is given a chance in Andhra Pradesh as the people thought that he is the only leader who can help the state which is deficit-ridden due to the state bifurcation. KCR‘s win is more of a gift for the struggle he put up for the separate state.
Telangana people thought he can be leading the state towards the Bangaru Telangana Goal. Chandrababu Naidu has a formidable opposition in the form of YSR Congress. Opposition strength got channelized in AP as Congress is totally Zero. KCR on the other side has a weak opposition divided across the party lines. Congress and BJP can not join hands obviously and TDP – Congress can not come on a common platform.
On the other side, Both the Chief Ministers have totally ignored the Opposition till date. The Opposition MLAs in Telangana are complaining that they could not even get the appointment of the Chief Minister and as a result could not take up any developmental works in their constituencies. Things are not very different in AP as well.
Congress and YSR Congress are demanding that the Chief Minister should take an all-party delegation to the Central Government over demands like Special Status, Polavaram etc. But TDP government is not doing that. Opposition Leader Jagan himself skipped the foundation stone laying ceremony of Amaravati while alleging that some official invitations from the state government to various events like Pushkaralu are not cordial.
