India has taken various safety measures for safe traveling of women in buses and trains. Now it is the turn of Airbus. Air India is going to introduce women-only seats in the planes soon. Six seats in the third row of the domestic class would be allotted to women without any extra charge.
The booking will be open until an hour before the check-in closes. This decision was taken with the influence of a couple of women molestation incidents reported recently in the plane. Two women reported being harassed by men seated next to them who were later taken into custody. These bullies have no class and place that they can show their wickedness.
Officials also say that they get a noticeable number of requests at the check-in counter by women who are traveling alone to be able to get a female in their next seat rather than a male passenger. The ladies only seats would definitely give more comfort to the lone female travelers.
