One rumour costed several lives in Rajahmundry!The mishap at Godavari Pushkaralu in Rajahmundry costed 27 lives and 20 others are grievously injured. It is learnt that a rumour had costed all this. It all started with about 2000 pilgrims coming to Pushkar Ghat which is very near to local railway station. Four trains arrived at the station at a time and the people rushed to pushkar ghat. While officials are trying to control the crowd and send them in queue.

Out of no where, a rumour erupted that an electric wire got broken. Suddenly people got panic and started to run hither and tither. Some people tried to climb the temple gopuram near the ghat, some tried to climb over the barricades and some even got on to the generator kept near the ghat. And that resulted in a stampede killing 27 people until now. Most of them are women and belongs to Uttarandhra.

The local police and district administration are trying to restore normalcy there. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had announced that he will stay in Rajahmundry till the conclusion of the 12 days festival.
