Basavaraju, a 30-year old Social Media Volunteer of YSR Congress was arrested at Kaliganuru village of Santhipuram in Chittoor district for allegedly posting defamatory content against AP chief minister Chandrababu Naidu and his son Lokesh on social media.
Basavaraju had uploaded morphed photos of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. He had replaced faces of thieves, beggars and eve teasers with that of the CM. He also made the similar defamatory content of Lokesh and Balakrishna.
The FIR filed under sections 341, 355, 469 and 506 of IPC. The accused has reportedly been active on social media, posting on Facebook on a page titled ‘YSRCPunofficial’ and also on WhatsApp. Earlier two more men were arrested in similar cases but there is little change as YSR Congress stood behind abuse and trolls.
Those arrested earlier – Inturi Ravikiran and Ravindra Ippala were out on bail and were again indulging in making abusive posts on social media. Trolls these days have no difference between criticism and abuse making social media a murky place.
