office-space-problems-for-Andhra Pradesh-governmentAndhra Pradesh government which is keen to shift its administration from Hyderabad to Vijayawada is struggling to find office space there. The government is hunting for private buildings where they can house the offices temporarily in Vijayawada and Guntur. But the building owners are not showing interest to lease or rent their buildings to government since the rents are less.

For renting or leasing government buildings, the state government will notify a maximum rent and the transactions can happen only on that price. So far, the government renting value is just Seven Rupees per square feet. With very poor response, the government despite in severe funds crunch is forced to increase rents.

The government had issued a G.O. increasing the rent to 15 Rupees per square feet. If there are extra facilities, the rent can go up to 18 Rupees per square feet. Government is hoping that this increase will make sure the office space problems will be solved. And on the other side, negotiations are on with the employees for shifting to Amaravathi by June 15th.
