Odisha First State To Announce Lockdown ExtensionEven as the Government of India is bidding time in deciding the extension of the Lockdown, Odisha has become the first state in the country to voluntarily extend the Lockdown. The State Government has announced that the State will be under Lockdown until April 30th.

Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik also decided to shut the schools at least until June 17th. More states are expected to follow if the Central Government is not in a position to decide about the Lockdown. We are on the Sixteenth day of the 21 Days Nationwide Lockdown.

The finances of the Governments are severely hit. More than 250 of India’s 700-odd districts have reported the infection. Reports say at least seven states have a third of all infections and want the lockdown extended. Six states have reported clusters of rapidly growing infections.

There is another demand to Lockdown only the districts which reported infections and ease the Lockdown in remaining areas. But such a move can be a calculative risk.
