Notes Ban Affects Shirdi SaiThe demonetization of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 denomination notes has affected the entire country in some way and apparently the Shirdi Saibaba temple is no exception. It is common knowledge that people donate in large amounts at the temple and as of lately, a total of Rs 2.28 crore has been received by the Shree Saibaba Sansthan Trust in the form of obsolete currency.

This whopping sum of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 denominations was initially deposited into the bank by the SSST but after the instructions released by the Income Tax department, they stopped depositing the notes in the bank from 24thNovember. They also stopped taking donations in old currency notes after the Income Tax department requested the same.

With clear instructions put in the donation boxes, people still made donations in the defunct notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 and about Rs 70 lakhs has been received.
