High Court of Andhra PradeshHigh Court reprimanding IAS officers is a big news in any part of the world but it has become a routine in Andhra Pradesh. Here is one more such instance. The Andhra Pradesh High Court has sentenced two IAS officers, Poonam Malakondaiah and Chiranjeevi Chowdary for contempt of court.

Poonam Malakondaiah, was issued a non-bailable warrant for not appearing in court. Sericulture employees have gone to court in the past to regularize themselves. The AP High Court on February 28 last year directed to regularize them. However, the court order was not implemented by the authorities.

The court sentenced the IAS officers to jail. However, the quantum of the sentence will be decided only on the 29th of this month. IAS Officers will be pardoned by the court if they appeal but instances like this will be a black mark to their service records.

Poonam Malakondaiah is one of the senior most IAS officers in Andhra Pradesh with no single remark in her career spanning over several years.
