No More Wine Shops Named After Hindu Gods in Andhra PradeshTo safeguard the sentiment of women and devout people, Andhra Pradesh Government is mooting the idea to bar liquor trader and owners from naming their shops after Hindu gods and goddesses. Establishments all such names will be defunct and no longer can be used.

The shopkeepers will have to resort to some other ways to get blessings of their divine deities. Andhra Pradesh becomes the second state to bring out such order. Before Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra had come up with such a proposal and implemented it through an order.

On the other side, AP Government like many other states has decided to denotify the national and state highways due to the fact that Supreme Court had ruled that bars and liquor shops should not be located close to them clearing the way for such establishments to continue.
