In a meeting with the party leaders the other day, Janasena President Pawan Kalyan had announced that both TDP and YSR Congress have approached him for an alliance before the elections but he refused both of them since he wanted to go alone. While Pawan Kalyan wears this statement on his sleeve like a badge of honor, this only indicates his wrong calculation.
Politics is all about making the right decisions at the right time. Chandrababu Naidu who claims to have 40 years experience went all the way to Pawan Kalyan’s house before 2014 election despite the latter being a political novice. He made the right decision at that time and irrespective of the argument about the quantum, Pawan Kalyan definitely played a role in TDP’s victory.
Pawan Kalyan refusing alliance in 2019 election proved to be very costly. The decision ensured that even he has to sit outside of the Assembly despite contesting from two seats. Janasena is left with the crisis of existence after that shameful defeat in which the party managed just one seat.
If Pawan Kalyan contested in an alliance with any party, Janasena would have been at least a significant force in the Opposition. The recent defeat will further kill the confidence of the people on the party. Pawan Kalyan should not take pride in the decision which brought him to where he is now.
