No Other Way, Jagan Has To Live with CouncilFor the first time ever, Andhra Pradesh Government has witnessed the Governor addressing the Assembly online. In his address, Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan mentioned that the three capitals idea is a crucial step towards administrative decentralization.

Government’s Whip in the Assembly, Gadikota Srikanth Reddy also mentioned that the Government is considering to table CRDA bill in this session. The Ruling Party’s Plan to trifurcate the Capital was stalled by TDP with its majority in the council. The Government overrode the Council’s decision to send the bill to the select committee and moved a bill to abolish the council.

But that proposal is pending with the Central Government for several months. It is unlikely to happen any sooner. The government will not have to adhere to the council or hijack TDP’s members to get the bills passed. After moving the bill to abolish the Council, the Government will put up a candidate for the vacant MLC position which will go for election on July 7th.

The by-election is necessitated due to the resignation of Dokka Manikya Varaprasad who joined the YSR Congress. He is likely to be YSR Congress’ candidate. The Opposition claims that if YSR Congress is principled, it should not contest this election and stick to its stand of abolishing the council. Until Modi softens, Jagan will have to live with the council.
