No More Covid Tests for International Travelers in USAOn Sunday, the Biden-led US administration ended one of the longest-running travel restrictions of the pandemic by dropping the COVID19 testing requirement for inbound air travelers from abroad.

The US put the rule under Trump’s rule in early 2021 and was later tightened by the Biden government. The rule made it mandatory for inbound travelers, including American citizens, to show a negative Covid test proof a day before boarding U.S.-bound flights.

The change of rule takes effect from 12:01 AM EST on Sunday. This rule has damaged the traveling industry and was repeatedly opposed by Airline companies and others in the travel industry. Many CEOs of the leading Airline companies called the rule nonsensical and frustrating.

Many countries, including the United Kingdom, had previously abandoned Covid testing entry rules.

Many are commending the Biden administration for this action and are hopeful that removing the rule will welcome back visitors and accelerate the recovery of the US travel industry.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has also released a statement saying that a reassessment of the decision will be done in 90 days, and if there is a need to reinstate a pre-departure testing requirement due to a new, concerning variant, they will not hesitate to act.
