No-Good-News.-Corona-Negative-Patient-May-Not-Be-NegativeCoronavirus scare is gripping the entire globe. The United States is currently in the Peak Week and the deaths are just increasing every day. Now, scientists have delivered devastating news: Many people with negative results might actually have the virus.

The majority of tests around the world use a technology called PCR, which detects pieces of the coronavirus in mucus samples. The scientists say that this test is not very reliable as there are several external factors that can influence the test results and a negative can not be totally considered as negative.

“The Result will depend on how much virus the person is shedding (through sneezing, coughing, and other bodily functions), how the test was collected and whether it was done appropriately. There are all chances that the test could throw false positives,” the scientists say.

The sensitivity of these tests is around 60 to 70%. There are a few other concerns like the virus coming back in recovered patients and some patients not showing symptoms even after two weeks despite actually infected. Usually, these problems do occur with all the virus but these pose a significant risk since the Coronavirus infections are running into Millions.
