Telugu Desam Party is alleging illegal bauxite mining in Manyam at the behest of the Ruling Party. The Government has refuted those allegations but National Green Tribunal got satisfied with the preliminary evidence submitted and ordered an inquiry.
The NGT also found fault with the construction of the road in the deep forest destroying the trees and that too without any permission from the Forest Department. The Tribunal has appointed a committee to look into the issue. The committee will have a senior official of the Central Forest Department.
Vishakapatnam district collector, a senior official from the state mining department, and another senior official from the Pollution Control Board will be part of the committee. The committee will submit a report to the tribunal on or before 31st August for the NGT to take a further course of action.
The state government will be in trouble if the allegations are proven right.
