New-York-Police-Down--With-CoronavirusThe United States has become the Epicenter of Coronavirus infections across the globe overtaking China and Italy. New York is the hotbed of the infections with more than half of the cases recorded there. Things are not well for anyone in the city including the Police.

The Police Department says that over 300 police officers in the city have tested positive for the Coronavirus, with many more still waiting to be tested. The department says over 3,237 officers are out sick as of Wednesday night, which is three times the normal rate.

That indicates things are extremely dangerous and if it continues that way, the city will be at significant risk on all the fronts. The department had set up an operational task force of about 600 officers who will be replacing cops that are out sick in the coming days.

The city has been in a partial lockdown for a week as officials try to slow the spread of the virus and hospitals scramble to keep up with the patients streaming in. On the other side, new hotspots have started emerging in states like Detroit, Chicago, and New Orleans.
