New York Murder: Indian-origin Sikh Shot In CarGun crimes are on the rise in the US, and so are hate crimes. The recent victim is Satnam Singh, 31, who was shot dead while sitting in his vehicle. The Indian-origin man was shot just like in the movies when he was sitting in a jeep near his house in New York, according to local police.

After being shot, Satnam was taken to a local hospital, where the doctors declared him dead. The incident happened in the South Ozone Park neighborhood, which is next to Richmond Hill. Earlier, two Sikh men were attacked in the area in April. At the time, the police classified them as hate crimes.

Ironically, the place has large numbers of Indians living. Also, there are two versions of the incident, one from the police and another from witnesses. While the police say Satnam was killed while he was in his car, a neighbor said that her home security video captured people coming in a car and shooting him.

However, so far, the police haven’t been able to find a motive. But incidents of attacks on Sikhs are on the rise in general, and the police feel the bullets could have been for the owner of the vehicle as Satnam borrowed the jeep.

In April, the turbans of two Sikhs were knocked off, and they were robbed in Richmond Hill. For now, the police have categorized it as a hate crime.
