New Twist in Rapid Testing Kits Controversyhe Purchase of Rapid Testing Kits from South Korea opened the Pandora Box in Andhra Pradesh Politics. There are allegations of Corruption as Andhra Pradesh paid 730 Rupees per kit while Chhattisgarh had bought the same kits from the same company at Rs 337 per kit.

The version of Andhra Pradesh Government has been that initially there were very few companies manufacturing these kits and hence the quoted price was higher. Subsequently, when more companies starting rolling out these kits, the prices dropped.

The Opposition alleges that this is a clear case of Corruption and the deal would go on if they did not rise it. The entire episode took a twist as the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) asked the states not to use these kits for two days as their results are very poor.

“A lot of variations, kits will be rested and validated by on-ground teams. We will give advisory in the next two days,” ICMR said. Rajasthan Government had discarded all the kits procured so far as the Government claims that the accuracy rate of these kits is less than 5%
