Navayuga-Shown-Door-Out-of-Polavaram-ProjectAndhra Pradesh Government has decided to show Navayuga company the door out of Polavaram Project. Irrigation Department has served notices to the company to quit the project. The government says it has taken the decision to serve Pre-Closure notice basing on the report of the Experts Committee.

We do not know what went wrong but Polavaram works have sped up only after the entry of Navayuga into the Project. The company was given the responsibility of the spillway and channel works. Navayuga has the experience of executing some marquee projects such as the Krishnapatnam Port. They have agreed to do the works at old contractual rates.

Earlier this year, Navayuga also secured the Guinness World Record for a largest continuous concrete pour at Polavaram Project. Polavaram irrigation project in Andhra Pradesh is the world’s largest flood discharge dam currently under construction, involving Rs 57,000 crore in outlay including land acquisition, rehabilitation, and resettlement.

The project would irrigate a total of 42 lakh acres of ayacut in two phases, supplying water to all 13 districts of Andhra Pradesh.
