The COVID Death toll in Andhra Pradesh is nearing 10,000. The state is consistently clocking 100+ deaths in the past few days. According to the bulletin released a short while ago, there have been 22,610 new cases and 114 deaths in the state.
The state has been in the middle of a Partial Lockdown for more than ten days but still, the cases and deaths do not slow down. There are 9,800 deaths so far and 2,09,134 active COVID cases in the state. The death rate is alarming. More because there are allegations that the state is under-reporting the deaths but still the numbers are scary.
There were eight Covid-19 deaths in the Krishna district on May 17th as per the state government. According to an investigation by The Print – a national digital media house, one single crematorium in Vijayawada had final rites performed for 22 patients. If that is the scale of under-reporting, the situation is quite scary.
In another crematorium in Tadepalli where Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy resides, there are 22 COVID deaths. There over 50 crematories and burial grounds in Vijayawada alone. Imagine the number of the entire district and the entire state.
