The prospective alliance between Telugu Desam Party and BJP has been in the news for a while. There have been several reports pertaining to the rejig of the relationship between these two parties ahead of 2024 elections.
Now, national media is abuzz about the TDP and BJP alliance. Top media portal, Republic TV has now reported that these two parties will be entering the alliance again.
“It is true that at one point in time after the fallout after 2014 elections, these two parties would never join forces again. But things have changed now. BJP is looking for allies all across the country. At the same time, Chandrababu Naidu is a formidable force in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, and he is indeed willing to join the BJP in NDA alliance,” the report from Republic read.
The national media outlet goes on to add that Chandrababu is still seen as a principle political leader in India and the BJP feels he should be by their side instead of in front of them. They see Chandrababu and TDP as a force with 10-20% vote bank in Telangana and also a principle opposition in AP, making them formidable allies.
They point out that TDP had even supported BJP’s candidate in the presidential and vice presidential elections. It is also added that Chandrababu met with Modi recently and this consolidated the alliance proposal.
Well, as it appears, TDP and BJP are indeed likely to join forces ahead of 2024 elections. This is sure to have an impact in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in the next elections.
