Narendra ModiPrime Minister Narendra Modi is looking to strengthen BJP in the South. Accordingly, he is contemplating contesting from the Ramnathpuram Lok Sabha segment in Tamil Nadu.

BJP is trying to saffronize Tamil Nadu for a long time and has appointed an aggressive former Police officer, Annamalai as the party president.

Modi contesting from Ramnathpuram may have a positive impact on Tamil Nadu and entire South India.

Ramanathapuram holds spiritual and cultural significance and will serve the Hindutva purpose as well. Ramanathapuram hosts Rameswaram, which is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas. It is also the place where Ram Setu, which was the crucial link between Bharat and Lanka begins.

Along with Ramnathpuram, Modi is also expected to contest from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh.

In 2014, Modi contested from Vadodara and Varanasi. He later retained Varanasi and resigned to Vadodara.
