The Swearing-in ceremony of new additions to the Union Cabinet concluded a little while ago at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Despite the rumors, there is no single new face from both the Telugu States in Narendra Modi’s Team. Vishakapatnam MP Haribabu flew to Delhi with his family the other day but did not get a chance.
There were rumors that Vediri Sriram from Telangana may get the Cabinet Berth but that did not happen as well. Telangana now has no representation in the cabinet with Dattatreya also resigning. BJP leaders like Haribabu and Purandeshwari hoped to have a berth in the place of Venkaiah Naidu who was elevated as the Vice-President.
AP will continue to be represented by Ashok Gajapathi Raju and Sujana Chowdary both from TDP. Some sources say that there may be yet another rejig in the next three months. But there is also a chance that this can be the last reshuffle before 2019 elections.
All the new additions to Modi’s team are from BJP itself. There are no additions from allies like TDP, Shiv Sena, or JD (U). Shiv Sena and JD (U) did not hide their disappointment while Shiv Sena boycotted the oath ceremony.
