Narendra Modi's Dual Standards Exposed Wrt AAndhra Pradesh and TelanganaBack in 2014, Chandrababu Naidu in Andhra Pradesh and K Chandrasekhara Rao in Telangana have given utmost importance to Farm Loan Waivers. Both the state governments have asked the Center’s assistance to help the farmers who were hit by droughts for back to back years.

And then, states even asked for loans rescheduling. But then Modi government refused to help in both saying that Loan Waivers are bad precedents and will not help farmers and economy. Both the governments are executing them in their own way.

And now, the same BJP has promised Loan Waiver in Uttar Pradesh. The other day, Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh during a discussion on demands for grants for agriculture in the Lok Sabha said that the cost of the promised farm loan waiver in Uttar Pradesh will be borne by the central exchequer.

Now, the real question is if BJP led Central Government can be selective. When non-BJP states like AP and Telangana had to fund the waivers through state exchequers, why should GOI fund the same for a BJP ruled state? How about those talks of Waivers damaging farmers and economy.
