After holding several positions in the Telugu Desam Party, Senior Politician Kothapalli Subbarayudu started a series of blunders in 2009. He joined Praja Rajyam Party in 2009 but lost the elections.
Later, in 2014, he joined the YSR Congress and lost the elections to the TDP.

After the elections, he returned to the TDP but quit the party to join YSR Congress just before the 2019 elections. Subbarayudu is hopeful that TDP will accommodate him but Janasena is strong in this segment.
After initial resistance from TDP local leaders, Subbarayudu is now keen on trying his luck in Janasena. But then, Pawan Kalyan’s party has a strong candidate in Bommidi Nayakar.

Janasena’s internal surveys say Bommidi Nayakar will be in first or second positions and there is no way Kothapalli can be accommodated by Janasena. But the former minister is trying to move close with the party leaders there to try his luck with Pawan Kalyan.
Subbarayudu was elected as MLA five times from Narasapuram and once as an MP. Except for once on the Congress ticket, he got elected on the TDP ticket all of the time. The struggle started for him once he deserted TDP for PRP.
