TDP Senior leader and former Minister Devineni Uma Maheshwara Rao is out on bail. TDP alleges that Uma was attacked by the YSR Congress cadre but later finds himself got tangled in cases. He has to spend a few days in jail and now blames the witch hunt by the government for trying to unearth illegal mining.
After release, Devineni Uma spoke to the media and made shocking comments. “I suspect the government trying to arrest Nara Lokesh next month,” the former minister dropped a bomb. More than half a dozen TDP senior leaders were arrested ever since the government changed in 2019.
TDP cadre is worried if Uma has said this just in doubt or if he has any specific information regarding the arrest of Lokesh. Meanwhile, political experts say that if Lokesh is arrested, it will be a massive boost to his political career. “There is no leader in Indian politics who has lost after getting arrested. CM Jagan himself is an example,” they say.
But then, such calculations rarely do matter in YSR Congress Government. If they really mind, there would not have so many obvious setbacks for the government in the courts.
