Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is known for his excellent Power Reforms in the state. He steered the power sector of the state almost single handedly after assuming office and is providing 24X7 Power supply to the truncated state now. However Naidu’s 24X7 Power supply is largely helped by the lack of a capital.
The major chunk of Power in a state will be needed to cater the needs of a capital. With the extent of World Class Capital being planned, the Power needs will be even high. It is estimated that the Amaravathi will need 1000MW in the first phase and a total of 3000MW in phases.
Three 400KV Substations are being planned in Ainavolu, Gudivada and Chilakaluripet to supply the power to the Capital. These substations will provide constant power. Just in case if a technical problem arises in one, rest will take care of the uninterrupted supply. All the transmission lines in the capital will go underground.
