Naidu gives nod to act on River side buildingsAndhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu once again proved to be intolerant to corruption after he gave his nod to take action on buildings on the bank of Krishna River. These buildings are constructed in lands that are illegally occupied violating the norms under the River Conservation Act.

The act disallows constructions within 100 yards of the river bed and the proposed office falls in this prohibited area. Several political leaders and business houses have sprawling guest houses there. BJP is even planning construction of its party office there. The party’s MP, Gokaraju Rangaraju, who owns 2,700 square yards in three places, topped the list of violators.

Despite the pressure from allies, Chandrababu gave his nod to Guntur district collector Kranthilal to issue notices to all the buildings constructed illegally. After receiving the response from the owner, government will initiate legal action.
